Take a short creative pause with a pen, a sheet of paper and a simple sequence of marks.
Make a little space
A short drawing break can be an opportunity to pause a busy routine and do something creative without a large commitment of time.
Minute one: settle in
Sit comfortably, place your paper in front of you and notice the movement of your hand as you hold the pen. There is no need to force your breathing or achieve a particular feeling.
Minutes two and three: draw
Fill a small area with repeated dots, curved lines or loose loops. Move at a pace that feels comfortable. Let the marks be simple.
Minute four: add a variation
Introduce a second shape or change the direction of your lines. Notice how the new marks interact with the ones already on the page.
Minute five: pause and observe
Put your pen down and look at your drawing. There is no need to rate it or correct every irregularity. You have made something with your own hands, and that is enough for this short exercise.
